Welcome to lesson six of the CS and IT Curriculum for 3-5th grade students. You will find an overview of the lesson below and a link to download the resource files at the bottom of this description. Simply click the link to download the Zip file and then extract it.
π― Learning Objectives:
-Utilize loops and nested loops in coding to accomplish tasks
-Effectively test and debug code
-Cultivate a coding mindset
π« Guiding Ideas:
At the Animal Research Center (ARC), we take on the vital task of helping animals find safe habitats. In this lesson, a panda seeks refuge in a town amidst expanding human development. Students must gently guide the panda out of the town, relocate it, and safeguard its new habitat.
π Student Activities in Panda's Protected Habitat:
1οΈβ£ Secure the Area
2οΈβ£ Bamboo Border
3οΈβ£ Bamboo Hideaway
4οΈβ£ Make it Pretty
π Performance Expectations:
Reinforce concepts learned by asking students:
1οΈβ£ What is the name of the block used for making loops?
2οΈβ£ What is a nested loop?
3οΈβ£ TRUE OR FALSE: Knowing the sequence of events before building a loop is essential.
4οΈβ£ What is the difference between a repeat loop and a conditional loop?
π Formative Assessment:
Use these questions to gauge students' understanding of the lesson's concepts. A printable version is available in the educator's guide. Together, let's code with purpose and create a thriving panda habitat! πΌπΏ
